AFSCME Public Safety family by organizing with CSEA/AFSCME Local 1000 this summer. These critical public safety employees, who are on the front lines keeping students, staff, and teachers safe, were able to win voluntary recognition from Long Island’s Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District.  

"As a school safety aide, my focus every day is protecting our students and staff,” said organizing team member Richard Pietrafesa. “Being part of CSEA means that same dedication to protection is available to me as a school professional. In a high-stakes job like this, having a strong voice on the job is important to make sure we have the tools and resources needed to keep our schools safe."
