Never Forget

On this day, we pause to honor the public safety professionals, AFSCME members and all who gave their lives on September 11, 2001, and honor those who responded in the moment and afterwards. They came from different backgrounds and beliefs, held different jobs and walked different paths, but they were united by one shared dedication: service to their community. Their courage and selflessness will never be forgotten.

We also extend our thanks to the responders, recovery workers and volunteers who spent countless hours in the aftermath, searching, rebuilding and caring for our nation when we needed them most. Many paid a lasting price for their service with illnesses from toxic dust and debris that continue to claim lives to this day. Their sacrifice did not end when the search and cleanup did and our support for the care and services they need will never waver.

September 11th forever changed our country. But out of that tragedy rose an unbreakable resolve and unity that continues to define us. To the families who lost loved ones, and to every responder who answered the call 25 years ago - we remember, we honor and we stand with you.
